Martin de Witte

Maker of Renaissance Lutes, Vihuelas, Archlutes,

Theorbos, Chitarrones, Baroque Lutes,

Baroque Guitars and 19th Century Guitars

Since 1997 I am a fulltime maker of musical instruments. The lutes and guitars I build are based on historical instruments wich have survived in various museums and private collections. However those instruments of wich no reliable specimen has survived, such as the vihuela or the 6-course lute, are based on iconographical evidence.

Materials

The woods I use are the same as the ones used by the old masters. They are European spruce, maple, yew, pear, poplar, boxwood and ebony amongst others.

terms

Except for the instruments I might have in stock the average waiting time will be 12 months. Visitors are always welcome in my workshop for trying out instruments. A deposit of € 500,- will have to be made to secure an order. Final payment will have to be made at the time of delivery.

Taxes and costs of delivery and transport are to be paid by the customer.

I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. See contact details below.
